Polish security forces abandoned five beaten refugees on the border with Belarus

Polish security forces abandoned five beaten citizens of Iran and Afghanistan on the border with Belarus, the Belarusian State Border Committee reports.

“On the morning of June 6, the border patrol found five men on the border with Poland, four of whom were citizens of Iran and a citizen of Afghanistan. The foreigners were detained by Polish security forces, who severely beat them and took their money and phones. According to the refugees, the Polish military deliberately beat them on the legs, accompanying this with the words “so that they don’t come again,” the department reports on the Telegram channel.

According to the committee, all men on the Belarusian side received medical assistance. The investigative team carries out the necessary procedural actions.

It is also noted that a woman of African appearance continues to be near the gate in the Polish fence, through which Polish security forces forced out five men. “The foreigner does not speak English and refuses to go to the Belarusian side. Due to the fact that the woman is located directly next to the fence on Polish territory, beyond the border line, the Belarusian border guards cannot provide her with any assistance. Polish security forces ignore the presence of the foreigner and do not carry out the necessary procedures, including not providing medical assistance,” the state border committee reports.

According to the department, “such facts of deliberately leaving vulnerable people in danger once again prove that the initiative of the Polish authorities to create a so-called “buffer zone” on the Polish-Belarusian border is aimed at hiding from the public evidence of cruelty and gross violations of human rights.”
