WSJ: The US will supply Ukraine with modern weapons for the F-16, but will limit its use

The United States has agreed to arm dozens of F-16 fighter jets being sent to Ukraine with American missiles and other advanced weapons.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the United States plans to arm the aircraft with AGM-88 HARM air-to-ground missiles and precision bomb guidance kits.

It is noted that this summer Denmark and the Netherlands will send the first F-16s produced in the United States. Then Belgium and Norway will take over supplies.

Nevertheless, Washington will limit Ukraine's use of American-provided weapons to strike Russian territory. It can only be used “in response to attacks from that side of the border.”

  1. According to the newspaper, the timing of the deliveries is unknown.

Russian President Vladimir Putin repeatedly emphasized that new arms deliveries to Ukraine won’t change the situation on the front, but will only lead to the prolongation of the conflict. Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov pointed out that all cargoes containing weapons for Kiev will become Russia’s legitimate targets.
