Israel limits gatherings in north as it strikes Hezbollah in Lebanon

Israel has launched air strikes in Lebanon and is restricting gatherings in the city of Haifa and other northern areas as it continues to attack targets linked to Hezbollah.

Dozens of fighter jets started "extensively" striking southern Lebanon "following detection of Hezbollah preparing to fire toward Israeli territory", Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Rear Adm Daniel Hagari said.

In a statement on Telegram, the Lebanese group said it fired dozens of missiles at the Ramat David Airbase in northern Israel.

Hezbollah said the assault was a response to Israel’s repeated attacks on Lebanon as well as in support of Palestinians in Gaza.

In a separate post, the group noted that Ramat David is the airbase where Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Wednesday that the “centre of gravity” in Israel’s war has shifted to its northern border with Lebanon.

At least 15 rockets were fired during a second rocket attack on Israeli territory from Lebanon, the Dubai-based Al Arabiya TV channel reported.

As noted by the Qatari Al Jazeera TV channel, the target of the shelling were cities in the northern part of the Jewish state. The Israel Defense Forces twice reported the activation of sirens warning of air danger in the north of the country.
