Hezbollah says it has fired rockets at Israel’s Haifa, Israel counts some 85 projectiles

Lebanon-based militant group Hezbollah on Tuesday said it had fired rockets targeting the northern Israeli city of Haifa. The Israeli army (IDF) confirmed at the same time that around 85 projectiles had been fired from Lebanon at northern Israel.

“In the areas of the Upper Galilee, Central Galilee, and Haifa Bay, approximately 85 projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon into Israeli territory,” IDF said in a statement.

Hezbollah deputy chief Naim Qassem said the Lebanese militant group supported efforts for a ceasefire with Israel after two weeks of intense Israeli bombardment of Lebanon.

"We support the political efforts that (Lebanese parliament speaker) Nabih Berri is undertaking towards a ceasefire," he said in a televised speech.
